In a significant event held at the Royal Courts of Justice, MP Shabana Mahmood took on the role of the first female Muslim Lord Chancellor of the United Kingdom. This momentous occasion was presided over by Dame Sue Carr, who herself is the first female Chief Justice. She underscored the historical significance of the event, highlighting it as a “triple first”: the first time a Lord Chancellor has sworn on the Quran, the first female to hold the position of Lord Chancellor, and the first instance of a female Chief Justice administering the oath to a Lord Chancellor.
