Students of shaheed benazir bhutto women university were formally notified by the university administration to strictly abide by the new dress code. By banning jeans and tights on campus, the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU), Peshawar implements a new “modest” dress code for its students. Girls are expected to dress in knee-length kurtas, white dupattas, and shalwars.
They were required to wear black abayas during the winter, along with black sweaters, coats, or simple jackets. Additionally, they were prohibited from donning anklets, gaudy jewelry, or extensive make-up. Further, it was mandated that faculty members also dress formally in a black gown during lectures.
Any university student who violates the dress code will be subject to a punishment of Rs 1,000, according to the statement.
The public has divided on this issue; some individuals think the institution made the right decision, while others think students should be free to wear anything they wish.
