Sindh Govt Releases Rs. 52.6 Crores to Purchase 35 Luxury Vehicles for Senior Officials

The Sindh government has approved Rs. 526 million (Rs. 52.6 crore) to purchase 35 new vehicles for senior officials across the province.

The new fleet will include six Toyota Fortuner SUVs and 29 Toyota Hilux Rocco pickups. The Fortuner SUVs, costing around Rs. 18 million each, will be given to the commissioners of six divisions. The Hilux Rocco pickups, priced at approximately Rs. 14.4 million each, will be allocated to the deputy commissioners.

This decision had already been approved earlier this year and the funds were included in the current provincial budget. According to officials, the new vehicles are intended to support and enhance the performance of administrative duties across Sindh.

They believe that providing modern and reliable transport will help commissioners and deputy commissioners carry out their responsibilities more efficiently, especially when covering large areas and dealing with on-ground issues.

The move is part of a broader effort to update and improve government transport facilities, ensuring that officials have the necessary resources to serve the public effectively.

However, news of the vehicle purchase has drawn mixed reactions. Some people welcome the update, saying it will help senior officers travel more safely and quickly. Others question whether such a large amount of money should have been spent on vehicles, especially at a time when many citizens are facing economic hardships.

Further updates are expected once the vehicles are delivered and distributed to officials. The government maintains that the step is necessary for better governance and faster response times in administrative work throughout Sindh.
