As per the sources, Sindh high court withdraw the ban on the social media app TikTok on Wednesday. And then directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to restore the social media application all over the country.
The court declared its judgment on a petition by PTA requesting relocation of the ban consigned previously and ordered the authority to make a decision on the complainant’s appeal by July 5.
According to the news, PTA authorities guarantee the court that the petition, requesting removal of ‘objectionable content, will be decided on by the court given date.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that he was ‘happy’ that the SHC drew its decision to forbid the social media platform.
“There is an ongoing war of technology in the world right now & companies are doing propaganda against each other. Our regulatory authorities and honorable judges should stay away from this fight & welcome those who invest in Pakistan.”
Popular in the video-sharing platform, TikTok was banned by the court on June 28 due to “immoral content” & for celebrating “LGBTQ-Pride Month”.
The PHC had ordered the PTA to guarantee that the audiences from Pakistan do not be able to gain access to immoral and offensive material from the perspective of the requirements set out of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.
