The Sindh government intends to construct a desalination plant to help Karachi residents cope with water constraint.
According to Murtaza Wahab, the city’s Ibrahim Hyderi coastal area has been chosen to implement the proposed desalination plant project. Daily desalinated water production at the proposed desalination plant would be two million gallons (MGD). The plant’s capacity would later be increased to five MGD.
He claimed that the proposed desalination plant will meet the water needs of the city’s water-scarce District South, which is located at the tail-end of the city’s bulk water supply system.
