Special planes carrying 60 tonnes of relief goods from Saudi Arabia reached Karachi.

Two special planes bringing relief supplies from Saudi Arabia arrived in Karachi on Friday, extending humanitarian aid to flood-affected citizens in Pakistan. Both flights brought approximately 60 tonnes of humanitarian supplies from the King Salman Relief Centre. It includes tents, food packages, blankets, dates, and kits. The relief supplies were handed over to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) authorities in Karachi. All products will be provided to affected individuals as per the needs of each affected area.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman to congratulate him on the Kingdom’s 92nd national day. Shehbaz Sharif, currently in New York to attend 77th session of the UN General Assembly, briefed the Crown Prince about the flood situation and the ongoing relief efforts in Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince for flood relief assistance. As well as the launch of the “Sahem” portal in KSA for accepting general public donations. Moreover, Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman expressed condolences for the loss of precious lives and livelihoods in Pakistan. He promised the Kingdom’s sustained assistance to the flood-affected people of Pakistan.

Humanitarian Aid from Turkiye

Meanwhile, Turkiye has also dispatched two more “Kindness Trains” loaded with relief goods for victims of the catastrophic floods in Pakistan, which have submerged one-third of the South Asian nation. The eighth and ninth trains carrying 1,040 tonnes of disaster relief goods, including food and hygiene products, left the capital Ankara a day earlier.

Humanitarian Aid from Russia

Two days ago, the first flight carrying flood relief aid from Russia also landed at the Karachi airport with relief goods including food items, tents and water cleaning devices.

Humanitarian Aid from other countries

Previously, countries including Germany, Tajikistan and the US also dispatched aid to flood victims in Pakistan. The aid consignments had urgently needed food, hygiene products and medical supplies.
