Dr. Niaz Brohi, who is the leading ophthalmologist in Pakistan has recently stated that Pakistan is the greatest recipient of eye donations from Sri Lanka, having received at least 35,000 corneas since 1967.
Dr. Brohi, a Pakistani member of the Sri Lanka Eye Donation Society, has written to express his condolences.
“Sri Lankans provided us eyes, but we have lost sight. Pakistan is the most common recipient of Sri Lankan cornea donations, receiving 40% of them,” he remarked, lamenting the Sialkot disaster once more.
