Street Crimes on the Rise in Karachi as over 19,000 Citizens Robbed in 3 months

The city of Karachi has been experiencing a surge in street crimes, with over 19,000 citizens robbed in just the first three months of 2023. The incidents of snatching and stealing motorcycles at gunpoint have continued to occur without any reduction, exposing the tall claims of police high-ups. This alarming rise in street crimes has left the people of Karachi at the mercy of criminals.

According to data available with ARY News, more than 19,000 citizens have been deprived of their motorcycles, mobile phones, and vehicles. Shockingly, 34 citizens lost their lives over resistance during these incidents. The statistics reveal a staggering number of over 7,000 street crimes reported in January, 6,500 cases in February, and more than 6,000 in March 2023.

The police, despite having access to CCTV footage of many incidents, have failed to arrest street criminals. Furthermore, their efforts in recovering the looted valuables during various operations have been unsatisfactory, with less than 5% of the stolen items being recovered. This lack of action by the authorities has left the citizens of Karachi feeling helpless and unprotected.

The rise in street crimes has caused a significant stir among the general public. The city’s residents are now demanding immediate action from the authorities to control the situation. They are calling for increased patrolling and security measures to be taken to ensure their safety on the streets. It is high time for the authorities to take notice of the situation and devise a comprehensive plan to curb street crimes in Karachi. Failure to do so may lead to an increase in fear among citizens and further damage to the city’s reputation.
