Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has defended the Pakistan Peoples Party’s record of public service, saying that no other political party can match its contribution to the country. He highlighted the PPP-led Sindh government’s work in transport, infrastructure, public facilities and a key role in making Pakistan a nuclear power.
Memon pointed to several new transport projects planned for Karachi and other cities. The Sindh government has approved 500 electric buses under a public-private partnership model. Of these, 450 are planned for 25 routes in Karachi, while 50 will operate on five routes in Hyderabad. Five electric bus depots are also planned across the province.
He also said an electric taxi service is being prepared for Karachi and is expected to start in September 2026. The government has also approved 500 additional electric scooters for women, with new batches of pink scooters being distributed in Sindh.
Other transport plans include 50 new double-decker buses for Karachi, new People’s Bus Service routes, and work on the Red Line BRT project. Memon also gave an update on the development work along University Road. He said around 80 to 85% of the corridor project has already been completed and is expected to be finished by 15 September, 2026.
