Lahore Govt Hospital Staff Allegedly Steal Medicines Worth Rs. 260,000

Government medicines and medical supplies valued at around Rs. 260,000 have reportedly gone missing from the emergency department of Lahore General Hospital, prompting hospital authorities to involve police.

According to hospital officials, a suspect identified as Mubashir Iqbal was handed over to the police after the alleged theft was discovered. The recovered supplies reportedly included antibiotics, injections used for stomach-related treatment, surgical gloves, cannulas, CVP lines and other medical items belonging to the government.

During questioning, Mubashir Iqbal allegedly mentioned dispenser Mian Hamid Nadeem and claimed that he would contact him to collect the medicines. The allegations are now part of the investigation, and authorities are expected to determine the role of everyone involved.

Hospital officials said action was taken after the suspected misuse and removal of government medical supplies came to light. The incident has raised concerns over the handling and security of medicines intended for patients receiving treatment at the hospital.

Medical Superintendent Dr. Farhad Hussain said a case was being registered and that a detailed investigation would be conducted to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

Police and hospital authorities are now expected to examine the available evidence and determine how the medical supplies were removed from the emergency department.

The investigation will also look into whether other individuals were involved and how the medicines and medical equipment were accessed.

Government hospitals rely on strict monitoring of medicines and medical supplies to ensure that patients receive essential treatment when needed. Any loss or unauthorised removal of such items can affect hospital operations and patient care.

Further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation and the evidence collected by the authorities.
