US President Donald Trump has stated that the proposed United States–Iran peace framework is still progressing and remains on schedule, despite recent delays triggered by rising tensions in the Middle East. According to him, the process has not collapsed or stalled permanently, but was only briefly disrupted by unexpected developments in the region.
He specifically pointed to a recent Israeli strike in Beirut, saying the action was “unnecessary” and had the effect of complicating already sensitive diplomatic efforts. Trump argued that such military moves risk undermining negotiations that are aimed at de-escalation and long-term stability, particularly at a time when backchannel discussions were reportedly gaining momentum. He further suggested that, despite the disruption, the agreement could still move forward in a very short timeframe if conditions stabilize.
On the other hand, Iranian officials have expressed caution regarding the situation, raising concerns about the reliability of the United States amid continued Israeli military operations in the region. While Tehran has not officially withdrawn from discussions, it has indicated that talks are still ongoing without any final confirmation of a signing date or completed agreement. The overall diplomatic environment remains uncertain, with both sides signaling cautious engagement but no definitive breakthrough announced yet.
