As per recent news, Turkey is considering buying either Block III JF-17 Thunder fighter planes from Pakistan or Chengdu J-10C semi-stealth 4.5-gen advanced multirole fighter jets from Pakistan after its deal with Lockheed Martin for 100 fifth-generation F-35 jets fell through owing to US sanctions.
According to the Eurasian Times, the government is currently evaluating its limited options after its geographical arch-rival, Greece, finished the acquisition of Dassault Rafale fighter jets from France, with Pakistan being the best-positioned provider given the two countries’ military relations.
Further, Turkey was removed from the F-35 fighter program by the United States, stating that Turkey’s S-400 missile system will be incompatible with NATO’s missile systems thus, exposing the next-generation F-35 fighters to Russian sabotage.
