UAE Plans to Launch Futuristic Transport System ‘Virgin Hyperloop’ Speed Upto 1000 km/hr

Dubai: Instead of launching its freight services in the early 2030s as originally planned, Virgin Hyperloop, the firm behind a revolutionary technology that hopes to substantially reduce travel times, now expects to do it by the middle of this decade. Instead of the hour-plus current travel time, the hyperloop concepts promise transit speeds between Dubai and Abu Dhabi of 12 minutes.

“DP World’s recommendation to the Virgin Hyperloop Board was that the cargo side of (hyperloop-enabled) transportation should be fast-tracked to offer a solution to handling future supply chain needs.”

The train can travel at speeds of up to 1000 km/h, which is three times faster than high-speed rail and more than ten times faster than the typical speed of ordinary rail. Virgin Hyperloop published a computer-animated movie in January 2022 that meticulously describes what it would be like to ride the ultra-rapid mode of transportation. Here, you may discover more.

Sultan bin Sulayem, chairman of Virgin Hyperloop and CEO of DP World, stated that this news takes the commercialization of hyperloop technology one step closer.

“With the rapid, sustainable, and on-demand transport of passengers and cargo, it is poised to transform the Gulf region.”

By 2025, Virgin Hyperloop hopes to receive its safety certification, and by 2030, it hopes to start operating commercially.

“The achievement is evidence of our technological progress”, according to Virgin Hyperloop CEO Jay Walder.
