As the last player in the race has begun to deploy 4G services in Pakistan’s major cities, the competition among mobile internet service providers has heated up.
According to a spokeswoman for Ufone, 4G services are now available in key cities around the country. Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta are covered, with Karachi on the horizon.
In 2014, Zong purchased a 4G licence, followed by Jazz in 2016 and Telenor in 2017. The latter two were late because they were waiting for cellphones that supported 4G.
Ufone’s services are being upgraded from 4G LTE to 4G. It entered the competition after launching a more advanced version of mobile internet, known as 4G, in Pakistan’s major cities.
