Vaccination is Necessary for Hajj Travellers to Complete Religious Rituals.

Muslims who plan to do the Hajj in 2023 will need to be completely vaccinated against COVID-19, according to Saudi Arabia.

Muslims who plan to undertake the Hajj in 2023 must have a complete COVID-19 vaccination. This consists of a booster shot as well as two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The following vaccinations are legal in Saudi Arabia:

  • Pfizer-BioNTech
  • Moderna
  • AstraZeneca
  • Covovax
  • Nuvaxovid
  • Sinophram
  • Sinovac
  • Covaxin
  • Sputnik-V
  • Janssen (1 shot)

Ten days before the start of the Hajj season, those who have not yet had their vaccination can do so. Additionally, seasonal influenza and meningitis vaccinations are required for pilgrims.

2023’s Hajj season will run from June 26 to July 1.

An estimated 2.5 million Muslims travelled to Saudi Arabia to conduct the Hajj in 2019. The COVID-19 epidemic, however, reduced the number of pilgrims in 2020 and 2021. The number of pilgrims rose in 2022, although it was still less than it had been before the epidemic.

Age and travel restrictions for the Hajj in 2023 will no longer be in place, according to Saudi Arabia.

This implies that regardless of their age or country, anyone who is completely immunised and complies with the other conditions will be permitted to conduct Hajj.
