WhatsApp Roll Out ‘View Once’ Voice Message Feature

WhatsApp’s newest feature, which allows users to send voice messages that automatically vanish after being listened to, was unveiled in full on Friday, December 8.

In actuality, this translates to increased privacy for private voice messages, giving consumers more peace of mind when disclosing personal information like credit card numbers. However, the other side of the same coin is that once this feature is incorporated into a widely used messenger app on smartphones worldwide, the trail of possibly incriminating voice messages will vanish.

However, according to WhatsApp, recipients can open and view a “View Once” photo, video, or audio message for 14 days. The message will expire and vanish from the chat after this time. WhatsApp said voice messages and “View Once” media that haven’t been opened can be restored from backups for extra security.
