To honour the immense contribution made by numerous charitable organizations and their reputable work in the social and economic welfare of Karachi, KE held their Annual KHI Awards 2, an initiative endorsed by NEPRA and launched in collaboration with #IAmKarachi. The event was hosted by fan favorites Khalid Malik and Sidra Iqbal, who entertained the guests through their energy and charisma.
The event kicked off with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by the children of the Kiran Foundation. While the event had its fair share of star power, all eyes were on the guest of honor at the event, the honorable Governor of Sindh, Imran Ismail, who’s down to earth personality and straightforward nature, kept the crowd in awe. Amongst the other dignitaries, the visionary KE CEO, Moonis Alvi also shared his thoughts on the matter of diversity and inclusivity. Other notable personality was Chairman NEPRA, Tauseef Farooqi who highlighted the importance of power with prosperity initiative for upliftment of societies at large in the country.
After the introductions and noteworthy messages from the leaders, renowned writer Anwar Maqsood was called on to the stage to share a few words of wisdom. This was followed by the award distribution for the first three categories in Public Health, Heritage and Culture, and Uplifting Projects as well.
The Chairman for the Board of Investment (BOI), Mr. Azfar Ahsan’s address made a solid impression at the event which was then followed by him awarding Instagram’s favorite Ayesha Chundrigar Foundation (ACF), who won in the Social Services category amongst others.
The event also included a rocking performance by none other than Shehzad Roy, with fans remarking how the superstar himself has not aged a day, as he serenaded them with his new single Tumse Si Hi Chalta Hai Sheher, a tribute to all the people making a difference for the city we love so much.
Winners from other categories such as Livelihoods and Vocational Training, Sustainability & Environment, Sports, Digital Accessibility and Financial inclusion were announced. Special recognition was also given to KE’s women empowerment initiative; Roshni Baji which has won the S&P Global Platts Energy Award for uplifting women in the city.
Saving the best for the last, finally, the Chairman for NEPRA, Tauseef Farooqi & KE CEO, Moonis Alvi, were called on stage for the last time, to announce the winners for the final 3 categories of Woman Empowerment, Safety, and Public Health (Secondary/Tertiary).
The event then culminated with a speech and a picture session with the winners for the night. Overall KE surely made it a night to remember anxiously keeping others to wait a whole year for next year’s grand finale. Kudos to KE for bringing light to the city.
