Worlds Bank & Japan Offering Fully Funded Scholarship for Students of 160 Countries

The World Bank Group and Japan are offering a fully funded scholarship program called the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP). This opportunity is open to students from developing countries, providing support for master’s programs in various regions, including the U.S., Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan.

Application Periods

  • First Window: January 15, 2024, to February 29, 2024
  • Second Window: March 25 to May 24, 2024

Full Coverage of Expenses

Successful applicants will benefit from a comprehensive scholarship package that covers:

  • Economy class air travel between the student’s home country and the host university.
  • Two-way airfare, along with an additional travel allowance of US $500 per trip.
  • Full tuition for the chosen graduate program.
  • Cost of medical insurance.
  • Monthly stipend to cover various expenses, including accommodation, food, and books. The stipend amount varies based on the country of study.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the JJ/WBGSP, applicants must:

  • Be nationals of a developing country (refer to the World Bank’s list of developing countries).
  • Have completed a bachelor’s degree program.
  • Hold nationality from a country listed by the World Bank.

Participating Universities and Courses

JJ/WBGSP supports scholarships for 52 participating Master’s Programs offered by 27 universities in the U.S., Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan.
