Zainab Abbas Reveals Why She Left India During World Cup

Zainab Abbas, a Pakistani sports presenter at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, has clarified why she left India during the tournament.

Her departure came after an Indian lawyer, Vineet Jindal, filed a formal complaint accusing her of making “Anti-Hindu” comments on social media in the past.

In a statement on ‘X’, Zainab expressed that she was neither forced to leave nor deported. She explained that although there was no immediate threat to her safety, her family and friends from both sides of the border were concerned, which led her to seek some space and time for reflection.

She acknowledged the hurt caused by her previous social media posts, expressing deep regret and emphasizing that they do not reflect her current values or who she is as a person.

Zainab offered a sincere apology to anyone who was offended by those posts, stressing that there is no excuse or space for such language.

She concluded by expressing her gratitude to those who showed concern and reached out during this challenging time.
