Fawad Chaudhry, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, has denied rumours of inflation in the country, saying that a growth in tourism implies prosperity because it shows that the average person’s income is not stagnant.
The minister announced on Twitter that more than 100,000 tourist vehicles have reached Murree this year, causing hotel and guest house rates to soar.
“These figures suggest that an increase in tourism in the country signifies both wealth and an increase in the average citizen’s income,” he said.
Fawad further stated that the country’s top 100 corporations had a profit of Rs929 billion this year, while all major media outlets made profits ranging from 33% to 40%.
