A virus has caused 14 members of England’s visiting team to become severely ill. It is unknown what type of virus it is.Their captain, Ben Stokes, is one of the injured players. The illness has severely affected the England Test team, which is travelling to Pakistan after a 17-year gap. Thirteen other people have since become ill.

As per the Test Match Special, the only players who are unaffected are Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Keaton Jennings, Ollie Pope, and Joe Root, who were on the ground ahead of the first Test in Rawalpindi that starts on December 1st.

The start of the first Test between Pakistan and England may be delayed as 14 members of the touring party contracted a viral infection and didn’t attend today’s practice session.

“The PCB and ECB are in discussions regarding the start of the first Pakistan-England Test due to some England players being down with viral infection,” the PCB tweeted.

The board said that it was monitoring the situation and was in contact with the ECB. It added that it would provide further updates in due course.
