15.2 Million People Perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia in Just Three Months

More than 15.2 million people performed Umrah during the first quarter of Saudi Arabia’s 2026 Umrah season, highlighting the continued global demand for the pilgrimage.

According to Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics, a total of 15,233,767 pilgrims performed Umrah during the period.

This included around 9.5 million domestic pilgrims and approximately 5.77 million visitors who travelled to Saudi Arabia from abroad.

Among international pilgrims, about 2.78 million were men, while 2.99 million were women. Air travel remained the dominant route, with nearly 86% of overseas pilgrims arriving by plane. Another 13.6% entered through land crossings, while 0.4% arrived by sea.

Saudi Arabia began issuing Umrah visas and welcoming pilgrims for the 2026 season on May 31, with the latest figures underscoring the scale of religious tourism and the Kingdom’s preparations to accommodate millions of visitors.
