4 Choices That Can Help You Live Longer

As Muslims, it is our belief that everything has an appointed time and that life is God’s trust, which will be taken from us at the appointed time.

However, science is devoid of spirituality and emotion, so everything is measured on material, analytical and empirical scales and conclusions are drawn whereby most people believe that the duration of life is determined by genes.

However, human genes play a minor role in life expectancy, while our environment and lifestyle have a greater influence on human lifespan.

If a person wishes to live longer, he needs to improve his environment and lifestyle, for which you can consider the following factors.

1- Quit smoking habit

If you smoke, give it up for better health, as it accelerates the aging process along with negative effects on lung health.

Considering that the more than 4,000 chemicals in cigarettes lower a person’s life expectancy by 8 minutes, it is clear that giving up smoking is a positive step in the right direction.

According to a 50-year study, quitting smoking at the age of 30 adds 10 years to a person’s life, while quitting at the age of 40, 50, and 60 adds 3, 6, and 9 years, respectively.

2- Increase consumption of vegetables and fruits

As vegetables and fruits are rich in nutrients and antioxidant compounds that play an important role in increasing the strength of your body. So make sure to include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and olive oil in your daily diet. By consuming these foods, you are protected from the harms of metabolic syndrome. Symptoms of the metabolic syndrome include excess body fat, high blood pressure, and other cardiovascular issues.

3- Adopt habit of physical activity and exercise

Regularly incorporating exercise into your daily routine will have a profound effect on your biological age. Exercising regularly is essential for maintaining strong muscles and a healthy heart.

It is clear from research that people who exercise regularly live longer than people who do not exercise. Walk around outside every day and make an effort to exercise for at least an hour each day.

4- Relieve chronic inflammation

If you suffer from chronic inflammation, you may develop chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer as you age. However, it can be controlled by adopting a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Taking steps to reduce inflammation may help you feel younger for longer.
