43 KM long World-class Affordable Mass Transit Of Electric Trains For Karachi Circular Railway

On Wednesday, Asad Umar the federal Minister of Planning development and Special initiatives held a meeting to on work of Karachi Circular Railway project to see the present status and speed of work.

The 43 KM long, world class level affordable mass transit system should be expected with environment friendly electric trains and the project is going according to everything planned given by the ministry, said secretary Pakistan Railways.

Asad Umar was also briefed upon the freight Corridor from Keamari to Pipri Marshalling Yard, this project is 50 KM long freight corridor to Pipri from Karachi port and the project includes development of Marshalling yard/ Inland container Depot at Pipri. 40 per cent of the cargo which will be transported to upcountry is expected to be captured by this project.

All necessary arrangements should be made for groundbreaking of KCR corridor by September, 2021 and all codal formalities should also be fulfilled quickly, said Asad Umar.
