On Friday, tremors from the quake were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The seismic centre said details of the magnitude of the earthquake would be released shortly.
Tremors were also registered in several other areas of Punjab and KP, including Multan, Faisalabad, Abbottabad, Swat, Buner, Kohat and Malakand.
People in the affected regions rushed out of their homes and offices immediately after feeling the shaking.
