5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Other Areas of Pakistan

A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 was felt in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, causing concern among residents for a short time. Many people stepped बाहर of their homes and offices as the tremors were noticed across different areas of the twin cities.

According to the Seismological Centre, the earthquake started near the Tajikistan–China border. The depth of the quake was recorded at around 128 kilometres, which means it occurred deep beneath the earth’s surface. Because of this depth, the shaking was felt but did not result in serious damage.

Officials have confirmed that no injuries or property losses have been reported in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, or other parts of the country. However, the sudden tremor created panic, as people rushed outside for safety.

Earlier on the same day, a smaller earthquake was also recorded in Khuzdar and nearby areas in Balochistan. This tremor measured 3.9 on the Richter scale and had a shallow depth of about 10 kilometres. Its epicentre was located around 62 kilometres southeast of Khuzdar.

Although the intensity was lower, it still caused fear among local residents. Fortunately, no damage or casualties were reported from that region either.

Authorities are keeping a close watch on seismic activity and have advised the public to remain calm but stay alert. They continue to monitor the situation to ensure public safety in case of further developments.
