5 Unique Innovations Revealed at Dubai International Airport

The Dubai Airport Show 2023, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, featured various companies from around the world showcasing their latest innovations in response to the high demand for new-age technologies in the aviation sector.

These technologies aim to contribute to the continued success of the UAE’s aviation industry and help Dubai International Airport maintain its position as the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic. Here are five noteworthy technologies displayed at the show:

Superbikes and Smart Jackets

At the Dubai Airport Show 2023, the Dubai Police showcased a unique motorbike designed for VIP protocols, which can be operated by both male and female staff members of the security department.

Additionally, they exhibited specially-designed jackets that feature integrated airbags for the safety of the motorbike officers. These airbags are connected to a wire on the bike and are programmed to deploy in the event that the rider falls off, providing protection and minimizing the risk of injuries.

Self-boarding Gate

Magnetic, a German company, presented its innovative smart gate designed for self-boarding, aimed at improving the efficiency and speed of the passenger flow during the final boarding process of an aircraft. This advanced gate not only facilitates self-boarding but also has the capability to print receipts for passengers, assisting them in locating their seats more easily.

By automating the boarding process, airline and airport staff can allocate their time and attention to assisting passengers with special needs and families, enhancing overall customer service. While currently implemented in select airports, there are plans to potentially introduce this technology to the region in the coming years.

Smart Gates

At the Dubai Airport Show 2023, Emaratech showcased an advanced smart gate that uses facial and IRIS recognition technology for seamless boarding without passports or boarding passes. The gate features enhanced security measures and is highly reliable with low maintenance requirements. It is currently in the manufacturing phase and promises efficient and secure passenger processing at airports.

Drone

Dubai Police is presenting an advanced drone at the show, designed for emergency situations. The drone offers live footage of crime scenes, enables communication with suspects, and can be deployed for major accidents or fires in the city.

Hadi

Emaratech has developed an indoor navigation smart app that enables users to navigate airports and large shopping malls. The app includes information about promotions and offers at airport outlets, as well as flight notifications and gate details to ensure passengers don’t miss their flights. Additionally, the app can be customized to meet the specific requirements of different companies.
