PIA Crew Members to Face Rs. 100,00 Fine for smoking During Flights

Employees caught smoking during flights will face a Rs 100,000 fine, according to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

The decision to impose a fine was taken after an inspection by a European agency revealed that the no-smoking policy was violated.

In a circular, the administration of the national flag carrier stated,

“Recently one of our aircraft was subject to SAFA inspection, and during the inspection, cockpit crew were found violating the NO SMOKING ON BOARD policy.”

It stated that the airline had a zero-tolerance policy against smoking onboard.

“Any crew member found involved in violating the policy would be fined a sum of upto Rs100,000/- As per previous circulars, it is again reiterated that the other crew members are required to report such violations.”

If they fail to do so, other crew members on such flights would also be considered violators of company policy and would be fined the same amount.
