$65 Bn Plan Set By China To Connect Western China To Gawadar

Gwadar, Pakistan’s port city, is an important component in the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a $65 billion investment plan aimed at connecting western China to Gwadar, Pakistan’s southern port.

COAS General Bajwa expressed pleasure with the pace of development on the CPEC projects, saying that after the successful completion of the first phase, which filled the country’s energy and communication infrastructure voids, the project has entered the second phase.

“The impact of the second phase will be much greater than the first,” he said, adding that the second phase of CPEC will connect Pakistan’s and China’s private sectors, attract more private investment, boost agricultural and science and technology cooperation, and usher in an era of industrialization through the establishment of special economic zones.

According to the Pakistani source, Pakistan’s strategic Gwadar port, which is being developed as part of the CPEC, is being connected to the rest of the country through improved road infrastructure in order to boost the national economy and improve regional connectivity and trade.
