The Indian tennis team has initiated diplomatic discussions with the Pakistan Tennis Federation to obtain visas for the upcoming Davis Cup tie.
This dialogue reflects ongoing efforts and preparations for the prestigious tennis competition, where participating teams often travel to the host nation, requiring diplomatic arrangements.
The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has sought guidance from the Sports Ministry for the national team’s travel to Pakistan for the Davis Cup World Group 1 Play-off tie scheduled in Islamabad in February.
The AITA’s move follows the International Tennis Federation Tribunal’s denial of its request to relocate the tie to a neutral venue. In the past, India and Pakistan have faced each other in Davis Cup ties, and the importance of securing visas emphasizes the gravity of this globally recognized tennis event.
