Govt Announces Ramadan Timings for Offices

The Establishment Division, responsible for managing administrative matters within the federal government of Pakistan, has issued a notification outlining revised office timings for federal government employees during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to the notification, federal government institutions will operate from 9 am to 3 pm, from Monday to Thursday, constituting a five-day workweek. On Fridays, which hold special significance in Islamic tradition, federal government offices will operate from 9 am to 12:30 pm.

This adjustment in office hours aims to accommodate the religious observances and practices of employees during Ramadan while ensuring the continuation of essential government services.

The Establishment Division’s directive aligns with similar measures implemented by provincial governments across Pakistan. For instance, the Balochistan provincial government also issued revised office timings for Ramadan.

Under the new schedule outlined by the Balochistan government, offices will operate from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Thursday, and will close at 1 pm on Fridays. This schedule reflects a recognition of the importance of Friday prayers in the Islamic faith and allows employees to conclude their workday earlier to attend congregational prayers.

For offices with a six-day workweek, operating hours during Ramadan will be from 9 am to 2 pm on Saturdays. However, in line with the adjusted Friday timings, these offices will close at 12 pm on Fridays.

These changes in office hours during Ramadan demonstrate a proactive approach by government authorities to accommodate the religious needs of employees while ensuring the continued provision of government services to the public. By providing clarity on working hours during this holy month, both federal and provincial governments aim to promote efficiency and facilitate the smooth functioning of administrative operations.
