The much-anticipated Pakistan vs. South Africa T20 series kicks off tonight in Durban, with the first match scheduled to start at 9:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time. Ahead of the clash, Pakistan has unveiled its playing XI, promising an exciting contest as key players return to the lineup.

Leadership and Notable Absentees

The Green Shirts will be led by Mohammad Rizwan, who takes on the dual role of captain and wicket-keeper. Vice-captain Salman Ali Agha, however, will not feature in the first T20I. His absence from the lineup is a talking point, as Pakistan opts for a balanced side without his presence.

Star Players Return

Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi are back in the squad after being rested during the Zimbabwe series. Their inclusion strengthens the team, with Babar adding depth to the batting lineup and Shaheen bolstering the pace attack.

Spin and Pace Balance

Pakistan’s playing XI reflects a strategic approach, with the inclusion of spinner Abrar Ahmed and all-rounder Jahandad Khan. Both players are expected to play a crucial role on a Durban pitch that could offer assistance to spin. The pace attack, meanwhile, will be spearheaded by Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Abbas Afridi, combining experience and young talent.

Middle-Order and Opener

In the middle order, Pakistan has selected Usman Khan, Tayyab Tahir, and Irfan Khan Niazi. This trio brings a mix of power-hitting and stability, crucial for setting or chasing a competitive total. At the top, the dynamic Saim Ayub, known for his aggressive style, will look to provide a strong start.
