The government is offering a subsidy of PKR 65,000 for people who purchase electric two-wheelers, such as bikes and scooters, and up to PKR 400,000 for electric three-wheelers like rickshaws. These subsidies are meant to make EVs more affordable for the public and increase their use across the country.
As part of this plan, the government also plans to set up 3,000 charging stations across Pakistan. These stations will make it easier for people to charge their electric vehicles and help support the transition to green transport. The initiative is also expected to create around 15,000 new jobs in various sectors, including manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of EV technology.
Islamabad, the capital city, has been chosen to serve as a model for this new e-mobility system. The idea is to make it a leading example for other cities in Pakistan to follow when it comes to clean and efficient urban transport.
