Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced a monthly financial allowance for the prayer leaders of 65,000 mosques across the province — a move described as a historic first in Pakistan. The initiative aims to ensure the financial stability and dignity of imams who serve their communities.
In addition to this landmark step, the Chief Minister instructed officials to complete all ongoing mosque construction and renovation projects without delay. She also ordered the repair of roads leading to Raiwind and directed authorities to strengthen security arrangements for the upcoming Tablighi Congregation, which attracts thousands of people each year.
Maryam Nawaz also highlighted the importance of community involvement in maintaining peace and harmony. She urged strict action against the misuse of loudspeakers and announced the formation of a specialized cybercrime cell to tackle online offenses and promote digital safety.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister launched the e-Business project — a major step toward paperless and transparent governance. The initiative is designed to reduce bureaucratic hurdles, speed up official processes, and make it easier for entrepreneurs to start and manage businesses.
Citizens have widely welcomed these reforms, seeing them as positive efforts to promote welfare, improve public services, encourage religious harmony, and strengthen trust in government institutions.
