Record Auction! KP Generates Rs. 5.81 Crore from High-Cost Number Plates

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise and Taxation Department has successfully completed the auction of 11 high-demand vehicle number plates in Peshawar, generating a total revenue of Rs. 5.81 crore. The auction attracted strong interest from buyers, reflecting the rising popularity of personalized and prestigious number plates in the province.

The highest bid of the auction was for Wazir-1, which was sold for Rs. 1.5 crore. It was followed by Afridi-1, which fetched Rs. 1.40 crore, and Khan-1, sold for Rs. 1.11 crore. Another popular plate, Peshawar-1, was purchased for Rs. 1 crore, showing the strong demand for city-name plates.

Several other well-known family and regional name plates also received impressive bids. Haripur-1, Yusufzai-1, and Durrani-1 were sold for notable amounts, highlighting buyers’ interest in plates linked to identity, heritage, and regional pride. Plates such as Swabi-1, Malakand-1, DI Khan-1, and Gandapur-1 also attracted competitive bidding during the auction.

Officials said the event witnessed participation from businessmen, investors, and car enthusiasts. Many buyers see these unique number plates as a symbol of status and recognition, while others view them as valuable assets that may increase in worth over time.

The Excise and Taxation Department stated that the auction was conducted in a transparent manner. The revenue collected from the sale will contribute to government funds and may be used for development and public welfare projects in the province.

The strong response to the auction highlights the growing demand for exclusive vehicle number plates in Peshawar and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
