The federal government has decided to reduce the number of entry points into Islamabad in order to strengthen security and improve management of traffic in the capital. The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
According to officials, the number of entry points to the city will be gradually reduced from 109 to 25. Authorities believe that limiting the number of access points will make it easier for security agencies to monitor vehicles and individuals entering the federal capital.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the step is part of broader efforts to improve law and order in Islamabad. He explained that security checkpoints should serve a real purpose and must not exist only as a formality.
The minister emphasized that proper monitoring and effective checks are necessary to ensure the safety of citizens and visitors in the capital.
Officials also noted that the decision will help improve civic facilities and better manage the movement of traffic. With fewer entry points, security personnel will be able to conduct more organized inspections and maintain better control over the city’s borders.
The interior minister highlighted that maintaining peace and security in Islamabad remains one of the government’s top priorities. He instructed relevant departments and security agencies to ensure that the new system is implemented smoothly and efficiently.
Authorities plan to carry out the changes in phases so that the transition can take place without creating major inconvenience for residents or commuters. Once implemented, the new arrangement is expected to enhance security while also improving overall management of entry routes into the capital.
