Pakistan Govt to Provide Free SIMs with Internet, Call Packages to Hajj Pilgrims

The Government of Pakistan has introduced a new facilitation measure for Hajj pilgrims by providing free SIM cards to ensure better communication during their pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. The initiative aims to help pilgrims stay connected with their families and group members throughout their journey, making travel and coordination more convenient.

According to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the scheme includes specially designed call and internet packages for different categories of pilgrims. Those undertaking long-stay Hajj will receive 600 minutes of call time along with 40GB of mobile data, while short-stay pilgrims will be provided with 300 minutes of calls and 25GB of internet data.

Officials have clarified that each pilgrim will be eligible for only one SIM card, which will be issued strictly on the basis of a valid passport. To further support travelers, recharge and top-up facilities will also be made available at designated accommodation centers in Saudi Arabia.

Under the government’s Hajj scheme, approximately 120,000 pilgrims are expected to travel this year. The first phase of flights is scheduled to begin from April 18, marking the start of the annual pilgrimage operations.
