Seven Armed Robbers Loot Truck Carrying Cooking Oil Worth Rs. 2 Crore on Motorway

A major highway robbery incident has reportedly taken place on the M9 Motorway near the Commander City housing scheme in Jamshoro District, where armed suspects allegedly hijacked a truck carrying edible oil valued at nearly Rs. 20 million.

According to preliminary reports, seven armed robbers travelling in a double-cabin vehicle intercepted the cargo truck while it was en route from Karachi port to Sialkot. The suspects reportedly forced the vehicle to stop before taking control of the truck and its valuable cargo.

The truck driver, identified as Falak Sher, and the cleaner, Ashraf, were allegedly blindfolded and tied up by the attackers during the robbery. Reports suggest the two men were later abandoned in a remote area after the suspects fled with the vehicle and shipment.

Following the incident, transport manager Sajid Jameel lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the Nooriabad police station. Law enforcement authorities have since launched an investigation into the robbery, while efforts are reportedly underway to trace the stolen truck and identify the suspects involved.

The incident has once again raised concerns regarding security and safety on major motorway routes used for the transportation of commercial goods across Pakistan. Transport operators and logistics companies have frequently expressed worries over increasing risks faced by cargo vehicles travelling long distances, particularly during night hours.

Police officials say further investigations are ongoing, and authorities are reviewing possible surveillance footage and other evidence from the motorway area to track down those responsible for the robbery.
