Buyers Shocked! Goat Prices Hit Rs250,000 Ahead of Eid ul Azha in Lahore

Lahore’s livestock markets are buzzing with Eid-ul-Azha ahead, but buyers are in shock as goat prices have reached record highs. Some premium goats are being sold for as much as Rs 250,000, while even average-sized animals are priced between Rs 80,000 to Rs 150,000.

Crowds have gathered at major animal markets, including Shahpur, Sanda, and Bund Road, but many people are returning home empty-handed. Families who planned to buy sacrificial animals are struggling with the unexpected price surge. One disappointed buyer said that last year he bought a good goat for Rs 70,000. This year, the same size is over Rs 120,000.

Traders say the sharp increase is due to rising costs of transportation, animal feed, and maintenance. They also mention higher demand this year and fewer good-quality animals available in the market. Some sellers are bringing goats from distant areas such as Bahawalpur, Multan, and even Sindh, which has increased the cost.

The skyrocketing prices have become a hot topic on social media, with many people sharing videos and complaints. Middle-class families are particularly worried as they search for affordable options.

With only a few days left until Eid-ul-Azha, the high prices are making it difficult for common citizens to fulfill their religious duty comfortably. Authorities have not yet announced any price control measures.
