Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Expected in Different Parts of the Country

Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather advisory warning of rain, thunder_storms, strong winds, and possible hailstorms in several parts of the country during the coming week. The authority has urged citizens to remain cautious and follow safety instructions as unstable weather conditions are expected to affect multiple regions from May 19 to May 22.

According to the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), widespread rain and storm activity is likely in Punjab, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, parts of Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. Some areas could experience heavy downpours, gusty winds, and isolated hailstorms, raising concerns about urban flooding, traffic disruptions, and damage to weak infrastructure in vulnerable locations.

The NDMA has advised residents, tourists, and travelers to avoid unnecessary movement during intense weather conditions and to remain updated through official forecasts and emergency alerts. Authorities also warned that strong winds and hail may impact electricity supply, trees, vehicles, and standing crops in certain regions.

Meanwhile, southern districts of Sindh and some parts of Balochistan are expected to continue facing hot and dry weather, with temperatures likely to rise further over the next few days. Officials have encouraged people in heat-affected areas to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and take precautionary measures to protect children, elderly citizens, and outdoor workers from extreme heat.
