Flinders University has announced applications for its 2026 Clinician PhD Scholarships, offering healthcare professionals an opportunity to pursue advanced research studies in Australia. The scholarship program is designed to support clinicians who wish to undertake a PhD while contributing to healthcare research and innovation.
The initiative is part of the university’s effort to strengthen research capacity in the medical and public health sectors. Successful applicants will receive a tax-free stipend of AUD 50,000 per year for up to three and a half years, helping cover living and research-related expenses during their studies.
Eligibility Criteria
The scholarships are open to Australian citizens, permanent residents, and New Zealand citizens who meet the admission requirements for a PhD program at Flinders University. Medical professionals, nurses, midwives, and allied health practitioners are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must hold unrestricted professional registration in Australia and demonstrate strong academic and research potential. The university has also encouraged clinicians from rural and remote regions, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, to submit applications.
Selection Process
Candidates will be evaluated based on academic excellence, research capability, the quality of their proposed research project, and the suitability of their supervisory team. The selection process follows the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) scholarship assessment criteria.
