Thunderstorms & Rain Expected in Different Cities for Next 6 Days

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a spell of dust storms, rain, and thunderstorms in different parts of the country from May 18 to May 23, bringing expected relief from the intense heatwave affecting several regions.

According to the weather department, a strong westerly system is likely to enter the northwestern parts of Pakistan and gradually influence upper and central areas, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. The system is expected to produce widespread rain accompanied by strong winds, dust storms, and thunderstorms in multiple districts.

Officials have also warned that some areas could experience heavy downpours and isolated hailstorms during the forecast period. Sudden windstorms and intense weather activity may cause damage to weak structures such as electric poles, trees, solar panels, and poorly constructed buildings. In mountainous regions, heavy rainfall could trigger landslides and create dangerous travel conditions on vulnerable roads and highways.

The PMD has advised residents, tourists, and travelers to remain cautious and stay updated with weather advisories, especially in northern and hilly areas where conditions may worsen quickly. Farmers have also been urged to plan agricultural activities carefully to avoid crop losses caused by strong winds or hail.

While the incoming weather system is expected to lower temperatures and provide temporary relief in many upper and central parts of the country, authorities noted that hot and dry conditions are likely to continue in most southern regions, where temperatures may remain significantly high over the coming days.
