Islamabad Police have started strict disciplinary action against officers who refused to perform official duties in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). At least one constable has already been dismissed from service.
According to official records, Constable Ahmad Ali, posted in Capital Patrols, was charged with misconduct and inefficiency. He ignored repeated orders to join the election duty in AJK. Despite clear instructions to report at Police Lines Headquarters, he failed to comply. After a proper inquiry, authorities removed him from service under police rules.
This action sends a strong message that refusing duty will not be tolerated. Islamabad Police often sends personnel to AJK and GB to help with security during sensitive times like elections. Many officers were called for deployment in AJK recently, putting pressure on the force. Plans to send more to Gilgit-Baltistan were later cancelled due to manpower shortages.
Senior police officials say maintaining discipline in the chain of command is very important. Such refusals affect law and order arrangements in these regions. More cases against other officials who refused duty are also in process.
The move aims to ensure police readiness for important national assignments. Citizens expect police to serve wherever needed to keep peace and support democratic processes. Official notifications have been issued, and further actions may follow.
