German Nurse Annette Dimigan Awarded Germany’s ‘Order of Merit’ for Her Service in Pakistan

German national Sister Annette Dimigen has been awarded the prestigious Order of Merit, Germany’s highest civilian honor, in recognition of her decades of humanitarian service in Pakistan. The award highlights her unwavering dedication to healthcare and her long-standing efforts to support some of the country’s most vulnerable communities through compassion and service.

Since 1997, Sister Annette has been serving at the Rawalpindi Leprosy Hospital, where she has played a vital role in managing administrative operations while also contributing to the treatment and care of patients suffering from leprosy, tuberculosis, drug-resistant TB, and various skin diseases. The hospital, regarded as one of the major healthcare facilities in northern Pakistan, provides treatment to hundreds of thousands of patients every year.

German officials praised her commitment, describing her as a symbol of goodwill and a bridge of friendship between Germany and Pakistan. Her lifelong mission of serving humanity continues to inspire both medical professionals and patients, reflecting the impact one individual can make through dedication, empathy, and resilience.
