Mohsin Speed? Distance from Islamabad to Pindi Will Be Just 16 Minutes!

Travel between Islamabad and Rawalpindi could become much quicker after the completion of a new underpass and a six lane service road along Islamabad Expressway.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the two projects could cut travel time between the twin cities to around 16 to 18 minutes, down from nearly 30 minutes now. He made the remarks while speaking about the Kashmir Chowk underpass project.

The Kashmir Chowk underpass is expected to improve traffic movement around one of Islamabad’s busy intersections. The Capital Development Authority has awarded the project for about Rs1.45 billion, with construction planned on a fast track.

The six lane service road is also under construction along Islamabad Expressway. During an inspection on October 5, Naqvi directed officials to speed up the work and remove delays, particularly those linked to utility relocation.

Officials expect the projects to improve traffic flow between Islamabad and Rawalpindi and reduce congestion on major routes. The government has also been pushing several road projects in the capital to address increasing traffic and the city’s growing population.
