Iran May Source Up to 60% of its Meat Imports from Pakistan

Pakistan and Iran have agreed to boost agricultural trade and cooperation, with a strong focus on livestock and food security. During recent talks in Islamabad, Iranian officials expressed interest in buying meat from Pakistan. They stated that Pakistan could meet up to 60% of Iran’s total meat import needs.

The discussions, held between Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain and Iranian Agriculture Minister Gholamreza Nouri, also covered rice, mangoes, corn, and other farm products. Both sides agreed to remove trade barriers and implement existing commitments within two months. They will strengthen coordination through the Pakistan-Iran Joint Working Committee on Agriculture.

Pakistan has the capacity to supply high-quality halal meat, rice, and mangoes to Iran. This partnership is expected to benefit farmers, traders, and consumers in both countries by increasing exports and ensuring better food security. Iran also plans to export dairy products, nuts, fruits, and vegetables to Pakistan.

This action is part of both countries’ efforts to increase bilateral trade. It will help improve economic ties and give Pakistani cattle farmers access to new markets.
