China’s Bilibili is stepping up its international expansion as the video-sharing platform looks to challenge established global players such as YouTube.
The company has relaunched its international Android application and is reportedly preparing an English-language website to make the platform more accessible to audiences and creators outside China.
Reports suggest that creators could potentially earn around $0.70 per 1,000 views, although Bilibili has not officially confirmed this figure as a fixed global payment rate.
Actual earnings may vary depending on factors such as audience engagement, content quality, advertising revenue and other platform criteria.
Bilibili already has more than 376 million monthly active users and is increasingly focusing on international audiences, particularly younger Gen Z viewers and digital creators.
If its global strategy gains traction, Bilibili could introduce a new competitor to the international short- and long-form video market, giving creators another platform to build audiences and monetize their content.
