Ali Pervaiz Malik has said that the government’s fuel pricing policy is designed to maintain a fair balance across all sectors without giving special treatment to any one group or creating additional financial pressure on others.
The minister explained that the government carefully reviews both local and international market conditions before making decisions on petroleum prices. He said the main goal is to protect consumers while ensuring that the country’s financial responsibilities and international commitments are also fulfilled.
According to Ali Pervaiz Malik, significant reductions in fuel prices have been made during the tenure of Shehbaz Sharif. He stated that diesel prices have been reduced by Rs. 200 per litre, while petrol prices have fallen by Rs. 155 per litre during this period.
The minister also shared recent trends in international fuel markets, saying that global oil prices continue to play an important role in determining local petroleum prices. He noted that changes in the international market directly influence the government’s pricing decisions.
He emphasized that whenever international oil prices decline, the government aims to pass on as much benefit as possible to consumers. At the same time, he said authorities must balance public relief with economic stability and other financial obligations.
Officials believe that maintaining a balanced fuel pricing policy is important for supporting economic activity while protecting both consumers and the national economy from sudden market fluctuations.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to monitoring global energy markets closely and taking appropriate decisions based on changing conditions.
He added that the government will continue working to provide maximum possible relief to the public whenever market conditions allow, while ensuring that Pakistan’s fiscal responsibilities and international commitments remain fully protected.
