Faisalabad police have ordered all shopkeepers and business owners to install CCTV cameras in their shops within one month. This new rule aims to improve public safety and fight rising crime in the district.
The decision comes after a sharp increase in child sexual abuse cases. Official figures show 330 such cases reported in the first half of 2026. Police hope CCTV footage will help prevent these crimes, catch thieves, and solve robbery cases faster. The cameras must cover both inside and outside areas of shops, markets, and malls.
City Police Officer Tanveer Hussain said the move will create safer commercial spaces for everyone, especially children and families. Shopkeepers have been asked to cooperate fully with the police. Those who fail to install cameras on time may face strict action. This includes registering criminal cases and even sealing their shops.
The directive covers all types of commercial places, including grocery stores, wholesale markets, and shopping centres. It is part of a larger effort to use technology for better law and order in Faisalabad.
Business leaders are urged to follow the order quickly. Installing good quality cameras will not only help police but also protect shop owners from losses due to theft
