Pakistan’s federal government has announced another increase in petroleum prices, raising the cost of petrol by Rs. 5.58 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs. 4.18 per litre. The revised rates will take effect from September 9, 2026, adding to the financial pressure already faced by consumers and businesses across the country.
Following the latest adjustment, the price of petrol has increased from Rs. 358.77 to Rs. 364.35 per litre, while high-speed diesel has risen from Rs. 381.77 to Rs. 385.95 per litre.
The new prices were announced after the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) reviewed petroleum rates under the government’s existing pricing mechanism, taking into account prevailing market conditions and related costs.
The latest increase is expected to have a wider impact on the economy as higher fuel prices generally raise transportation and logistics costs.
Commuters, transport operators, businesses and households may face additional expenses in the coming days, while the increase could also contribute to higher prices for goods and services that depend heavily on fuel-powered transportation.
